Billen Cliffs in Rock Valley

Donny backing up the caravan to our 'spot' on his little tractor.

Nahlia's bathtub in a bucket!

Playing with Joy, 10yrs.

Feeding the chickens - 'alle' - 'empty', she says.

A little tractor for a little farmgirl!

Nahila loves to climb the rock steps... here the guys are building the house in the background - Donny, our wwoof host and Brett, another wwoofer.

One of the Billen Cliffs, behind the house.

Ulf removing old banana trees.

Emma hanging out the washing, showing the outdoor shower cubicle to the right.

Cooking beef soup stock on the open fire.

Our little climber!

We arrived at Billen Cliffs, a community in Rock Valley, NSW, last Sunday, to the home of Donny, Karen and Joy.  We've really enjoyed our first week here - Ulf has been doing different jobs around the house like brushcutting, thinning the banana trees out, removing a radiator and manifold from an old car; and Emma has been cooking three meals a day for 6 people. They have a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere here, with drumming in the evenings, coffee at the community coffee club on Saturdays, work-days finish at 3 or 4 pm and weekends are free.  We will likely be here for another three weeks before moving north again, hopefully to a wwoof host near to Emma's hometown, Gatton.

Coffs Harbour

We arrived in Coffs Harbour yesterday afternoon and it didn't take long for Nahlia to enjoy running around on the grass and chasing the wildlife!  There's a family of wild ducks here with nine ducklings, plus several scrub turkeys, jaribus, and other wild ducks too.  Today we're having a much-needed rest from driving, phew...!  And we're getting our heads around all the changes to our diet that Nahlia's doctor in Canberra prescribed.  She's picked up some parasites and fungi, probably from all the dirt and poop that she put in her mouth when we weren't looking, and possibly unboiled tank water at the farm in Quaama.  She also has some deficiencies and allergies which we are now taking care of.  It may take some time for changes to be noticeable, but we are looking forward to healthy days ahead!

Tomorrow we have only 2.5 to 3 hours of driving left to Rock Valley.

Bermagui - Queanbeyan-Canberra

Hiking up Mt Dromedary, 806m.  That was quite a feat, with Nahlia on Ulf's back.

Paper Daisies lined the track in parts.

These boulders are called Tors and they were stunning!

Going over a bridge on Wallaga Lake.

Our spot in Queanbeyan - on the river!  We can hear it day and night.

Red Hill lookout in Canberra, showing Parlaiment House in the distance.

Three travellers...

We were sad to say goodbye to our hosts in Quaama, but the time came for us to move on.  We were so thankful for 6 days in nearby Bermagui after that, where we could stay in exchange for some handyman work.  It was a beautiful little cottage with a full kitchen which I made full use of!  We are now in Queanbeyan/Canberra until Thursday.  We are here so that Nahlia can see a specialist and we are already amazed at the doctors analysis and treatment.  Tomorrow we're travelling north as far as we can manage in one day.  Our next WWOOF host is in Rock Valley, near Lismore.

Our last few weeks in Quaama

As it says on the door - this is the bathroom - shower and washing machine only.

Pumpkin pie for the Harvest Fest dinner, a group of local friends who celebrate the season's harvest by sharing a meal together.  Only local produce is shared - so lots of pumpkin!

 Lupo, the Mareema guard dog...

She 'found' the handbag somewhere and it was her delight!

At Camel Rock.... exploring sand and hoping to pour some on the camera...hehe.

Pumpkin and ginger jam, made on the wood stove.... a great success and I'm proud of it!
