Summer in Hurlach

Ulf's Opa is a very good wood carver (Whittler) and has made many pieces over the years. As a boy Ulf was always interested in trying it, but it never happened, until now! Ulf's Opa has shown him how to whittle - carve - and Ulf has finished his first piece - a kangaroo!

On Sunday, 12th July we drove about 7 hours south to Hurlach, our old home town.

God provided an amazing place for us to stay in while we were there (an apartment), and blessed us very much through the owner who lives downstairs. We had good times of worship and prayer together and God spoke many things to us. It was refreshing!

It was great for Em to see Nancy and her family and spend time with them - baking Poppyseed cake, going swimming and just hanging out together.

While we were there, we also picked up all of our things that we had stored in Sokol's basement! We drove back with a very full car on Friday 17th. Now we have the job of sorting through everything and storing it in Ulf's parent's attic.

Our little trip to Hurlach was a blessing to us.

Rain turns summer to winter

The last three or four days it has been raining on and off, turning our beautiful summer holiday into a cold Melbourne winter! God provided us with warm clothing, and today Ulf's parents lit the fire for Em so she wouldn't be too cold!

Cherry picking!

Yesterday we went cherry picking!!Yum! A friend of the family offered us the opportunity to pick as many cherries as we liked from their very full tree. So Ulf and I spent one and a quarter hours picking in the morning. We picked about 50 litres of cherries and happily took them home to make cherry jam, preserved cherries, cherry juice (cooked), and a cherry cake as well! It was a very full day, but lots of fun!

Oma and Opa were also working - preparing apples for juice making. The Jetters don't like to waste anyhing that their garden produces, which can make the summertime a very busy time!

We have landed!

On Thursday, 2nd July, we arrived in Amsterdam, and after a three hour train ride through the Netherlands we were met at the station by Ulf's Mama and Papa.

It's so good to see Ulf's family again and were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful everything here is. The garden is full of flowers and bushes and trees with green leaves on them! Most of the time that we have spent here has been in autumn and winter, so it is a nice change to experience summer here (fresh raspberries every morning before breakfast!). In the next two weeks we would like to visit Hurlach, in the south of Germany where we lived before. We hope to visit friends and enjoy the scenery there as well!

Right: On the 30th June, in Melbourne, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary at the Pancake Parlour.
