Christmas holiday

On Sunday afternoon, the 21st of December '08 we set off, via the inland roads, for Queensland! About 2,000kms later we arrived in Gladstone and spent one week with Em's family for Christmas. It was great to see them all again! Otto's fiance Tamara came, and Aaron's girlfriend Sarah and her parents were there as well, so for the first time Em can remember, we were eight people around the table for Christmas! We received unexpected gifts and ate wraps for lunch! Aaron showed us the sights, which was a nice distraction from the sweltering heat!

From Gladstone we took the coast road down to Byron Bay, visiting some friends in Brissy on the way. Four nights in Byron were really nice - lots of beach, ocean bathing, and sun (to avoid!). We headed south again on the 1st of Jan, but by the 2nd of Jan we were both busting to get home to our garden and pet bunny rabbits, to see how they're doing. Lo and behold, the garden was huge after two weeks and we now have zuchinis, squash and green beans coming out of our ears! Add to that baby bunnies, ripe figs, and lots more vegies on the way and what you have is spring rain!
Kms travelled: 4,563

Road kill: 19 kangaroos/wallabies; 4 rabbits; 2 possums; 1 fox; 1 echidna; 1 goanna; 1 wombat; many birds; several hundred locusts (on our windshield); and many other insects.

The fam.:

Back L to R: Esmond, Em, Kerry, Sarah, Tamara and Otto.

Front L to R: Ulf, Aaron and Mum.

After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for. ECCLESIASTES 12:13 TEV
