Living simply, living 'slow'

You know you're choosing the 'slow' life when you ignore the things that need doing around the house and go out for a walk and enjoy the sunshine instead.  It's always a choice and there's always time for the tasks later.... always.

Having a baby means that I must slow down..... I simply have less time to do whatever I want to do.  I am forced to slow down and enjoy the precious moments that I have with my baby girl.  She doesn't care if the dishes aren't done or the emails aren't answered, and especially that I haven't written anything on Facebook that day!

At the same time, I am realising that I must slow down in my mind and be present.  And use the time that I do have for the basics in life and the things that matter - the things that revive me and keep me calm so that I can be the best Mum that I can be for my girl.  ...Instead of waiting to use any free time for all the little tasks and projects that I think I must do in order to feel good about my day.....

I know I have a lot to learn about living 'slowly, and I also realise that my daughter will teach me so much.

When was the last time you simply watched the water drop from your fingertips in the bathtub?  Or watched at the sunset?  Or lay down under a big tree and looked up through the branches?  Or simply stared at the sky and watched the clouds go by?

Mummy time

For the first time in four weeks, I did something for myself today.  Not something that needed doing, or something for others, just something that I enjoy...and it felt great!

[Of course I planned to paint while Nahlia was asleep, but she only gave me half an hour before she would no longer sleep on her own!]
